Twentyfiveseven, coffee with a Zoo

Twentyfiveseven is probably the only terrace in Amsterdam where you can spot monkeys in the trees and huge elephants just across from where you are sitting.

Even Adele recognised the charms of this peaceful hang out. “Loved enjoying coffee on one of the comfortable couches of the terrace before taking the stage in the Ziggo dome” She said.

Along the pretty and largely pedestrianised Entrpotdok Twentyfivesseven is situated in a 17thcentury warehouse complex owned by the East India company (Known as the largest storage depot in Europe at the time and nowadays one of Europe’s longest historical facade.) Upstairs the venue you find a calm place to plug in your laptop and work. Take the table next to the big window and see the clouds roll in over the trees of Artis, the Amsterdam City Zoo.

This place is all about great coffees (Bocca Coffee) and yummy freshly baked pies.

It serves honest homemade food contained in a small and simple lunch menu. Thursday’s till Saturday’s you can have dinner  for as much as €12,50. Yet, don’t arrive late in the afternoon, cause kitchen is open until 21:00. Friday is usually  Tapas day

On the side, follow their Facebook for special events like cello concerts, oyster evenings and photographic exhibitions.

The most noteworthy thing?

You’d had to be David Attenborough not to be surprised by all the animals you can see or hear. Besides monkeys and elephants, glance a stork in the sky kingfisher if you are lucky. Listen well and overhear (sea) lions, and gibbons. Pretty amazing to find this in the middle of the city.
